After the aforementioned wonderful breakfast, we left Konstancin-Jeziorna to head for Sobkow. It was a short journey, only 2.5 hours, but James was keen to check in as soon as possible to watch the football (England vs Sweden quarter final world cup match).
There was some concern over whether our room would have a TV. Situated in an old castle, all we could get from the listing was that 'some rooms' had TVs, but no confirmation on whether ours did or not.
And when we turned up, his worst fears were realised - no TV! Luckily, this is the 21st century, and he managed to stream Polish TV through the laptop - crisis averted! The most important thing sorted, it was time for a rather late lunch, and we enjoyed it and the sunshine on the nice shady decking (it was a bit hot!)
Then the match, and a good result for England. I was so tired I fell asleep, I can't deal with the drama of England matches anyway! Afterwards we needed to find somewhere for dinner. We already knew the hotel restaurant only had a few people who could speak English, and they seemed to be busy with a wedding, so we headed into the village, where we'd seen a pizza place, with the backup option of the local shop if we couldn't have a meal there.
Luckily we managed to get by, although the pizza sizes foxed us a bit, and we ended up with more pizza than we could possibly eat - two 18" pizzas and one 13", and quite possibly the best pizza I've ever tasted. All in with beers and soft drinks for around £20. And they were showing the Russia-Croatia match, as an added bonus for James.
Then it was time for the park and a pleasant walk back to the hotel while the sun was setting. James watched the rest of the match on the decking with a beer, all in all a very lovely day!
