Tallinn

Museums, museums and food

Today was grandad and Jo's last day in Tallinn. This morning we got up slightly earlier than usual because we had to meet them at 10am to go to some museum's.

The first one was the Tallinn city museum. On the way we saw a group of 3 buskers, two on violins and one on a cello. They were really good and they played some tunes we recognised. They were so good that there was a small crowd just standing there and listening and when I put some money in the cello case I noticed that there was actually multiple 5 euro notes on there. Usually when buskers have a lot of money in their cases, it's because lots of people put a little bit in each but these people were so good that lots of people were putting in more money than usual.

When we got to the museum it wasn't open yet but as we only had 5 minutes to wait we decide to stay until it opened. When it finally did open, we went inside and I saw a postcard that I wanted to buy even though I had already bought two in Tallinn but my mum told me I could get it afterwards. In the museum, there was a display of objects from each decade since 1918. There was the tech, toys and an alphabet learning book from each decade as well as a few other displays. Once we’d had a good look around, I bought my postcard and we left.

The next place we went was a marzipan shop but everything was too expensive so we moved on. We had snack and then we went to the Russian museum. I wanted to buy another postcard but I was told to buy it afterwards there was a lot of stuff there but there were only 2 things that interested me. The first was a typewriter that was very difficult to type on as A) you had to press the keys quite hard and B) half of the letters didn't look like letters and the ones that did were actually other letters. The second thing was that if you went upstairs, there was a room with a display and some square cushions which had what I thought was random pictures on them. It turns out that when you stacked them they made a picture. When we left I made it so that the the picture was upside down. When I had bought my postcard, we walked to a restaurant for lunch.

The restaurant was called Hotocas and I had flatfish and chips with salad and an ice cream sundae. After we had eaten lunch, we walked to the bus stop with grandad and Jo and got on the bus back to our apartment.
