Abandoned in Romania

After a day spent delivering Emily to Sibiu, three hours away from our accommodation, a rest day was needed. Driving is tiring generally, but driving in Romania is even more draining.

Fortunately the weather helped, as the forecast was rain all day. The self imposed pressure to see as many things as possible whilst on the trip means we need to remind ourselves to stop occasionally!

I took the opportunity to get the kids' brains going, and we did three sessions where two worked quietly while the other got intensive one to one maths at a level they will be working at next term.

In between sessions, we watched viral videos while having morning snack, and then while the rain stopped after lunch we went out and played badminton on the lawn, although it was a bit warm at 23 degrees and the wind made it interesting! We also managed to clear the washing backlog, with the very efficient onsite washing machine.

After the last teaching session, I had hoped to watch a family film around evening meal, but the Romanian tv schedule had other ideas. I don't think the kids were so happy with Tour de France with Romanian commentary! I had also hoped to take a walk to a dessert cafe in town when the weather cleared in the evening, but unfortunately the thunderstorms took hold, and didn't clear until sunset.

Instead we got the packing done, and had an early night, ready for the long trip to Timisoara tomorrow.
