This morning we left the lovely Airbnb in Denmark, toads and all (in the garden, not the house!) and set off on a 7 hour blast from Denmark into Sweden.
James has always wanted to cross the big bridge/tunnel into Sweden, so we went that way (ferry was never really an option due to Felix anyway!). It wasn't cheap - about £90 in total in toll charges, but the journey was smooth and fairly traffic free, and with just a couple of rest stops including one for lunch, we reached our destination for 6pm.
We're staying in a tiny 'cottage' with literally just enough room for 5 beds (one double and one single at ground level and two bunks on the top), no toilet or bathroom but we do have use of a shared kitchen and breakfast included. This came in very handy for dinner, we cooked some emergency pasta and helped ourselves to some coffees.
Then we took a walk out to the lake nearby, which is clearly signposted. It was beautiful walking through deserted woods but sadly (or maybe safely) we didn't spot any wildlife - we're on the lookout for moose, bears and wildcats as well as a host of other animals!
The lake itself was lovely, we could see a few houses the other side of the lake which must have been amazing to live or stay in. We couldn't see all of it because of the trees but it was quite huge. We were in no rush to get back because we don't have to worry about it getting dark here!
Tomorrow we drive to Oslo, making it 4 countries in 4 days (Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway). It's a shorter drive but I do have to work in the afternoon. This is all new territory for us (and Ezzie!) so we're looking forward to seeing what adventures lie ahead...
Oh, and Happy Sweden Day!
